Cabo, Cabo

It is a Sunday. We get picked up by the Scotsman who does not drink whisky or golf, but is pale and talks kinda funny. The new Lexus is quite nice. It doesn’t go in pure EV mode for a hybrid but does have a battery and eco mode. We make it to the airport in record time 9am. Niamh then lands a bombshell that we she didn’t pack for carryon but for checked bag. I’m not throwing way hundreds of dollars of makeup, skin care, and other beauty items from Ulta, Sephora or some other makeup skin care whatsitsname place cause our kid is dumb. So we turned around, stood in line, showed passports, and finally checked bags. Fiona got to random search and to be microwaved. That little tick you see from Fiona is from the microwave. Any who. We made it thru security in record time. And ordered Starbucks at 10am with a 19-24 minute wait. We walked over to gate 17, walked back to get Starbucks at 10:20 with Niamh at gate 22. Our plane was 40 minutes late since air traffic control in Cabo was slow. Our 10:35 flight was pushed to 11:15.

We got on at 11:15, sat in row 6. The main guy on his way to close the main door smacked his head against the closing door. So not only was the plane late, but now had to get clearance for a head injur. That took another hour. We finally took off at 1:30 for a 3 hourish flight. I watched three episodes of pluribus and it was awesome. We arrived at 4:30 ish and then had to wait for our bags. That took another another hour. And had to get thru customs. We left the terminal at 5:30ish.

On our way out we met Ed. We got a camel ride and a sunset cruise for $220 for 4 people. All we had to do was do a property tour! Sign us up! That took 20 minutes. Out we walked for a bus ride that left every 45 minutes. We caught the 6;15 bus for a 30-45 minute ride.

We rolled in at 7pm. Checkin took another 20 minutes. We left our bags at the front desk but there must have been a translation issue as our bags didn’t end up in our room. Anywho we went down to the Mexican Restaurant. A 90 minute wait at 8pm. Uh, no. We went to the Buffett! I had two dark Mexican beers and cheese things. We waddled to the room with the luggage 2140, but no luggage and only 1 bed. Hum… Tracked across to 4024. Boy with ne king bed and no luggage. The rooms are on the exact opposite ends, and they both have a king and couch. Turns out 2140 has a view and a pull out counch! Ok.

Anywho. I went back to lobby to get luggage and we finally went to bed at 10ish. I took a shower . Stayed up till 11:30 watching pluribus.

The AC is so loud! My alarm goes off at 6am. Off. I roll out at 8:10 to meet Ed. We walk to meet him at 8:30. Get to n a taxi and drive down a sketchy road 10 minutes and we arrive. We start the tour at 9. It goes for 90 minutes. We get a package by 11:15. I’m done. I leave the Fiona to suffer with paperwork. She will add me a Corey later. We need the Corey to use more of the trips each year. We could take the Darci, but Corey gets first dibs. I walk back along beach. A 10 minute walk. I have 7 quesadillas and beers. The kids show up. The Fiona appears. It is now around 1:30. Fiona eats. I drink. I walk back for swim suit and we go over to waterslides at a third property. I go down 3 different slides. A flush slide, a two some, and a fast solo. I skim across the water like a flat rock that is not so flat. We eat a snack and walk back. We lounge at 2:30 to 4. I do emails, works a bit a do tax stuff.

We find Tiffany and Emmy at 4:45 and I fetch champagne for the Fiona and Tiffany. We eat at the Mexican restaurant at 5:30. We get served at 6:30 and mine by 7:15. Anywho turns out I can’t sit right after going down the water slide. Good times. No camel ride for me ! lol

I started the blog and caught up the last two days. We have no water. Fiona didn’t believe me. I had to tell her four times each slightly louder than the last time. Ho hum. We have breakfast – 1/4 Belgian waffle, cheese slices on toast, build ur own omelette , carrot juice, melon juice, and black coffee. Very nice. It was at the buffet place in the middle. I told the front desk our water problem and they were going to look into it. We will hen walked back to ‘ Villa del Arco Beach Resort & Spa Cabo San Lucas’. I told people we needed to walk to the pirate ship, but we went up two sets of stairs before going up the correct one. The Fiona and Tiffanybwent to make plans, and I showed the demo room to the kids. A nice man with a handlebar mustache pointed us in the right direction, but then security asked for our room number. We r new members and wanted to show space to kids. We got to the fifth floor and they were impressed. I have a video. It is nice. We get a taxi to the warf as we are going to take the sunset cruise tonight at 5:30. It is 11am. Who guessed shopping! My shopping consists of a $2 bottle of water, and a tequila tasting. People with wallets immediately saw dresses worth tourist prices ($82) per dress which is more like 20 bucks. I said let’s walk first and then come back. People agreed. The teenage girls got bikini shirts. We didn’t haggle enough. Tiff paid 20 bucks for each shirt. Uh, no. I like my haggle strategy of saying half and walking away as there is always another store. Oh well. We walked up the street and then back to the taxi spot which was right across from Senõr Frōgs. We cruised to the warf and thru the mall and circled back to Senõr Frōgs. People with wallets ordered buckets of beer (10) and we got food. I got a 10 dollar quesadilla, the kids each had a virgin pina coloda, or dackeree (5). Chips and guacamole for the walking wallets. Ended up being $220 for the 6 of us + balloons hats + strawberry shots. It was loud and entertaining a definite tourist trap. I had 4 beers from a bucket, two double strawberry shots (awful), and flip cup game beer. The wallets didn’t finish their beer so we left two on the table, and each kid only drank half of the second drink. Oh hum.

We walk to the pier and stop along the way for tastings of tequila. We end up at a bar called the usual suspects. I have a horrible stout. we make it to the dock and the boat. We see a pirate boat and I’m jealous we didn’t get to ride on that boat. But we did see captain jack sparrow swagger by. I got a first bump. That is as close as I got to the pirate ship. A lousy fist bump. I’ll take it. We somehow have VIP access which means I get to consume even more alcohol. We get an awful drink when boarding . I think it was cranberry juice and mascal? It was bad. I drank it. We sat at the back of the boat. Then it was 20 minutes out to the key hole, $50 dollar photos, loud music and dancing. We listed around the enormous cruise ships in the bay. Two of them. It was ‘fun’ in the sense that i remember dancing, but not getting off boat, or getting into a taxi. I remember eating at the buffet back at resort. I make it to the room. The water is still turned off but we have water in the floor? Weird. Must be from AC unit which is really really loud. I slip. Boo. I crawl into bed.

Happy New Year’s Eve!!! I’m awake at 1:30am. Good times. I get up at 8. Kids are down to buffet by 8:15. We lumber down at 8:45. Today is the camel ride. The bus comes at 9:15. We get to the park at 10. We wait in line 30 minutes. Now we are drinking coffee and coke before we go out. I’m annoyed we are not going on our ride. We upgraded to a private tour so can take our phones and stuff.

We got on the camels at 11am. Our guide was Ivan. He has been a guide for 2 years. He took use across the bridge and we got on a truck. The truck went over some rolling hills and we arrived at the horse, camel, atv, sky bike place. Thy have 47 camels and it is a camel sanctuary. We rode on Benito, Christof, and Doris. Tim/lawson, Tiffany/Emmy, Fiona/Niamh. We walked up 8 steps to the camel mounting platform and got on. No stirrups, but a handle bar. We walk for a mile with Ivan literally walked the camels. It is not a nice as riding a horse, more jerky, and your another 6 feet in the air. They are slower than a horse. We didn’t get spit in which is nice. Out and back along the beach. It was not that special. Then we got to feed Linda and take pictures. We feed Linda carrots from our hand, cheek, and lips. It was pretty funny to see the reaction from Emmy. She was not having any of it. The rest of us like it. Then had lunch.

The lunch was lackluster at best with rice, refried beans, mashed potatoes, a soybean thing, and 1/4 cut golden potatoes. I had a fanta to drink. Then we got on the truck and we walked around a cactus garden for 15 minutes and then walked back across the rope bridge. The Fiona and Tiffany let Lawson and myself cross first as we liked to swing the bridge. Then we did tequila tasting and of course I like the plant that takes 25 years to grow which can’t be grown on a farm, but only in the mountains. Tepeztate. It was a mezcal that was very good. I had some sipping tequila too – codigo 1316 extra añejo, Exagerado , and albur . All very good.

After tasting we looked at pictures. Pictures at the end was $230 so am glad we did the private tour to take our own photos. The only thing that was sorta of neat was the DJI video going in circles around the 3 camels or the slow mo of the group shot at the end. Otherwise I have a bunch of photos. we looked at pictures and now am on the bus. I think we will go to beach? Dunno . We left at 1:30 and should be back around 2:30ish.

We got back and we ate at the Krystal the fusion restaurant. It was fancy. I had three course meal with cheese lasagna. I didn’t shower before but hung out in the lobby until 5:15 and then stood in line for the fancy place. I then had a shower after dinner and met everyone at the theater to take pictures and then watched the last episode of the last season of stranger things. It was so long and boring. It should have been no more than 90 minutes, and probably an hour would have been fine. No. It had to have monologues and flashbacks. Whatever, the darkness didn’t win surprise, surprise. Anywho we went back to the theater an hour before new years. There was dancing, a led robot, a disco ball dancer, and of course a juggler. We got grapes and saw fireworks. To bed at 12:15.

Happy New Year! Got up at 9:45am and rolled down to meet Niamh for breakfast. Lawson was still in bed. I had my cheese and cheese omelette. Then it was just pooling all day. I went for a little dip, and had some chips and guacamole for lunch. I texted my dad that he should get a feral cat for his rat problem. He declined. Back to room at 4. We then met in the lobby and saw all 4 giant cruise ships in the harbor. Then down to the steakhouse for dinner. I asked for a cheese lasagna again, but they brought me a mushroom surprise that had cheese and noodles. It was pretty good. They were missing the beer. It is now a bit past 7:30 and playing kahoot trivia.
